Mark Trzeciak for Dearborn School Board

I would like to introduce my self as a candidate for Dearborn School Board. I am currently an educator in Plymouth Canton Community Schools and once served as an Adjunct Professor at EMU. I have a wide range of successful educational leadership experiences, coupled with decades of “on the job training”. I feel I would provide the board with the insight needed to support teachers, students, and families while holding all stake holders accountable and demanding input and transparency.  In addition to the aforementioned, I am also the parent of 2 school aged children, one of which is Special Ed. and on an IEP. That said, I have been a champion for my child in advocating for her potential, and demanding results. I am passionate about insisting that Special Ed (and all) students not only receive the quantity of education they deserve, but the quality of education they deserve.  If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Testimonials

 To Whom It May Concern:

Please accept this letter as my unequivocal recommendation of Mark Trzeciak for the Dearborn Public Schools Board of Education. I first met Mr. Trzeciak when I was a sixth-grade student in his class at West Middle School in Plymouth, Michigan. I immediately felt at ease with Mr. Trzeciak and knew that his classroom was an environment where every student could feel comfortable and thrive.

With compassion and understanding. Mr. Trzeciak instinctively knows how to connect with each of his students. He effortlessly engages in meaningful conversations with the students so that he can assess what may motivate them or learn about challenges they may be facing. As a result, he skillfully tailors his teaching to meet the needs of each individual student and motivates them to enjoy learning and perform at their best.

For example, he discovered my passion for technology and encouraged me to explore my interest by offering challenging projects for me to work on outside of class and during my lunch hours in his classroom. He saw potential in me and knew how to tap into it. This mentoring relationship continued throughout my three years at West. In my last year there, Mr. Trzeciak helped to further build my confidence by allowing me to work with the younger students and show off my skills.

On numerous occasions, I personally witnessed Mr. Trzeciak encouraged and supported countless other students in the same way he did for me. In fact, Mr. Trzeciak is one of those teachers that former students go back to visit because he had such an impact on their lives. Mr. Treziak goes above and beyond as a teacher because he genuinely cares about the well-being of his students both inside and outside of the classroom. Mr. Trzeciak is often seen keeping a student company at the lunch table because he or she did not have anyone to sit beside or offering a kind ear and sage advice to someone facing a struggle. He fearlessly advocates for his students and gives everyone a safe place to be themselves.

I always knew that Mr. Trzeciak cared about me as a person and wanted to see me succeed. Once I left West and moved on to Plymouth High School and later college, Mr. Treziak and I continued to stay in touch. He supported me in all my endeavors, even though I was no longer his student. While I will always think of Mr. Trzeciak as my teacher, now that I am a college graduate and a member of the workforce, I also consider him a friend.

I have no doubt that Mr. Trzeciak would be a tremendous asset to the Dearborn Board of Education. His dedication to students and passion for education is undeniable. He does not fear difficult challenges or shy away from obstacles, especially if it is in the best interest of students.

Sincerely,

Colin C. Young
